A very detailed policy that outlines all particulars surrounding internet use for both the students and employees of the board. References to Charter and Human Rights Code bring authenticity to both policies and sets out expectations very clearly.
Policies are easily accessible on their website, can be downloaded and distributed to accompany a welcome/introduction letter.

Since my students are adults and in adult education I do not deal with parents or guardians, for the most part, therefore I will address my letter to the adult students within my classroom.
Welcome to our classroom. I hope you will enjoy your time here and participate in the many interesting subjects we will discuss. In sociology we will be looking at many subjects that will be researched on the internet.
While we are all adults, the board has set out parameters which we must work within for our research. Once you create your gmail account and join our circle your first order of business will be to read over the board policy posted on the sharing page. We will be having an open, in class discussion on internet use and the importance of your digital footprint.
I wonder if using Google communities would offer an even better platform? Just thinking out loud...
ReplyDeleteA platform for collaborating a policy document??
